MARCH AGAINST THE WAR<\/h3>\n

Wednesday, April 3, at 11.30 am<\/P>

From A-Ram Checkpoint in north Jerusalem to Kalandia at the edge of occupied Ramallah.<\/P>

Gush Shalom will join this march, to protest Sharon’s War, to express our worry and dismay at what the army is perpetrating in our name. What exactly is happening behind the Kalandia checkpoint? Nobody knows for sure. Palestinian friends report that in addition to the senseless killing, the widespread destruction, and the siege on Al-Mukataa and President Yasser Arafat, the Ramallah government hospital as well as other clinics are in desperate need of medical supplies. Palestinian women’s groups related that there is a huge shortage of basic foods. Later came horrific reports of the killing of prisoners by IDF soldiers, as well as widespread looting of supermarkets and banks. The occupation of Ramallah did not, and could not, put an end to suicide bombings. On the contrary, it increased and exacerbated them, as witness the terrible bombing in Haifa. We must end the cycle of violence in the only way it can be ended – by putting an end to the occupation; only then the horrific killing of civilians on both sides will stop.<\/P>

The following groups take part in this action (alphabetical): Bat-Shalom, Committee of Arab Students, Gush Shalom, Hakampus Lo Shotek, New Profile, Peace Now, The Fifth Mother, Ta’ayush, Women’s Coalition for a Just Peace, Women Refuse.<\/P>

This Is the Plan:<\/P>

On Wednesday, April 3, 2002, we will march in WHITE (as a symbol of peace and non-violence) from A-Ram to Kalandia. Trucks of food and medical supplies destined for the Palestinian Union of Medical Relief and women’s organizations will accompany the march.<\/P>

Dress Code: Please dress in white clothes or bring a sheet to wrap around you.<\/P>

Meeting and Transportation: We will meet at 11:00 am at the commercial center at the French Hill in Jerusalem. From the French Hill buses will take us to A-Ram.<\/P>

Transportation:<\/P>

Tel-Aviv: Arlozorov St. Railway Station at 9.30 (to reserve a place on the Gush Shalom bus call 03-5221730 and leave a message on the answering machine).<\/P>

Jerusalem: A bus will leave the Gan Hapamon parking lot in Jerusalem, to provide transportation from the city center (for exact details call Lili 053-966281).<\/P>

Acre: Buses and cars will leave at 8:00 near taxi stop by Egged, at 9:00 it will stop on the highway in the entrance to Tamra (contact Nabiah Murkus 054-9961631)<\/P>

Haifa: Bus leaves at 8:30 from Solel Boneh will stop at the gas station in Olga junction at 9:00 and in Netanya South Gas Station at 9:15 (contact Dalit 04-8622932)<\/P>

Please contact the relevant people so we know how many buses to order.<\/P>

Bring: Identity Cards, Rain Proof Clothes, and Umbrellas. We will march under all weather conditions.<\/P>
